Globalio (“we”, “the app”) is a free flags & geography game. This policy explains what information the app handles and how. We aim to collect as little as possible.
Globalio is run by Sean Joudrie, an individual developer based in the United States, who is the data controller for this site. Contact: sjoudrie@gmail.com.
We may measure how Globalio is used (pages viewed, games played, rough location by country, device type) so we can improve it. When measurement is switched on, we use one or both of:
If you visit from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s consent message asks for your choice before any advertising or analytics cookies are set. Until you answer, those cookies stay off. You can change your choice at any time from the “Privacy and cookie settings” link that Google shows on the page.
Globalio may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure ads, including ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
Our providers (Netlify, Google, GoatCounter and the flag image CDNs above) may process data in the United States and other countries. Where data leaves the EEA, UK or Switzerland, these providers rely on recognised safeguards such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to or restrict its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier use. In the EEA, UK and Switzerland you can also complain to your local data protection authority. Because we don’t hold accounts or profiles, most data about you is held by the providers above; email us and we will help with any request.
Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws may opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information for targeted advertising. Google’s US privacy message on this site provides that choice. We do not sell personal information for money.
Flag and emblem images are sourced from Wikimedia Commons and are used under their respective licenses; Globalio serves its own copies. Web fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.
Globalio is an educational game for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We don’t ask anyone for personal information. In the EEA, visitors under 16 (or the lower age set by their country) should ask a parent before accepting advertising cookies. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
You can clear all locally-stored game data at any time by clearing your browser’s site data for Globalio. You can manage or block cookies through your browser settings.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
